Selection of excellence

Wines originate from the most prestigious Bordeaux terroirs and are selected jointly by the oenologists at Maison Bertrand Ravache and the Malet Roquefort family estates. In the end, only 20% to 30% of the wines receive a dual validation and make up the final blend.

Léo de la Gaffelière

Since 1705, the Malet Roquefort family has been present at the famous Château La Gaffelière, a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé.

Heir to the estate in 1958, Count Léo de Malet Roquefort has incessantly striven to bring to light all its potential. Now, the adventure is being carried on as a family. In 1999, during a passionate discussion about wine and the terroir they are so attached to, Léo de Malet Roquefort and his son Alexandre expressed a shared aspiration: passing on and sharing their love for the Bordeaux vineyards, and more specifically for the Saint-Émilion vineyards, through a product within all wine lovers’ reach. The choice of a name was self-evident: Léo de la Gaffelière. The first Saint-Émilion brand wine came into being.

« Léo and Les Hauts de la Gaffelière are the result of a very discriminating selection of wines from the most outstanding Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion terroirs.
All the vinification stages are performed by the partner estates.
We select the wines just after malolactic fermentation.
To reach the required level, the preselection is done on very qualitative wines so as to obtain nice structure and length from the fruit.”
